OKAY SO. Apparently I have a whole ton of people friended/subscribing/whatever you call it here that I don't on LJ and whom I possibly don't actually know at all, so perhaps I will crosspost after all while I'm getting myself sorted. I don't want to import my LJ, because there's five back years of teenage fail in there, but here's the short version:

I'm 21-- was born in NYC, grew up near Philadelphia, and currently live in Chicago with a lab tech, a math professor, and a giant orange cat. I was taking British history at U Chicago but hated it, dropped out, and am currently working for an online shoe store and looking into being an illustration major (and stage design minor) at an art school downtown.

I have no real specific fandoms any more, but the list of things I would love to read and/or write fic for is vast, and I love a good crossover-- I've got three separate ones on the brain right now. I get pretty OTP-ish and defensive about pairings, but I'll fall in love with a character or canon at the drop of a hat. As a general rule I like fictional(ized) newspapers, cyborgs, women who play with machinery, YA, non-comics-based superheroes, crime novels, and all kinds of cheesy ridiculousness. (My most recent addictions are Life, the BBC State of Play, Lost, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Zac Efron. If that helps.)

Tell me about yourselves :D? Even the socks and lurkers, if y'like, I'm curious who I'm talking to here. I'd offer lemonade but that doesn't work so well over the Internet.

Hi! There isn't much to tell about myself. I'm mostly a lurker these days. I don't have a fandom at the moment. I'm 30 and I live with my mom and daughter in Florida. It's nice to meet you!

Hi! I'm Lindsey. :) I would say that I'm a sophomore at a small college in Ohio, but school's almost out for the summer so that'll be moot by Thursday. I'm an English / Classics major. While I don't really participate in fandoms, I seem to have a new obsession every six months. Right now it's Watchmen.

Anyway, it's nice to meet you.

Hello there! :D For some reason, I imported my LJ and then promptly privated all of the entries. I guess in case I decide to actually leave LJ (not very likely) and don't want to have to trek back over there to read my own fail.

Anyway! Hi, I'm eighteen, I go to college in rural Ohio but I'm from the Seattle area. Um... I fucking love Zac Efron. :D:

Well, I'll follow your lead: I'm a 20-year-old Industrial Design major going to school in Chicago, born and raised in the area. I like vintage clothes, cartoons about superheroes, comic books, and marathoning tv shows, and I go through fandoms like anything because I'm extremely suggestible. :D: Watchmen is the first I've managed to produce things for since I was seventeen and even more embarrassing (my lj dates back to age 14, sadly), so I'm hoping it'll hold me for a while, but I'm also currently kicking around things for leverage and hsm that will probably never see daylight. As for shipping, I tend to pick one or two characters per fandom to wife, and then ship them with everyone under the sun.

I'm a lurker by nature, but I've been trying to get out more and actually comment on other people's journals, though I fail to do so sometimes for months at a time. And I love your default icon, btw.

Y halo! I live in New York and am LOL unemployed but looking at grad schools for creative writing or linguistics. I used to be immersed in fandom but am kind of not anymore and am thinking of getting back into it. I mostly like TV fandoms, although I also am a budding comics fan!

I'm also 21, but I'm Lolstralian. I'm on a break from University right now, but when I go back I'll be finishing my English major, then figuring out what to do with one. :(

I'm a lurker too, but I'm hoping to get back into fandoms for the stuff I like. I'm still in love with Watchmen (and Laurie!), but most of my fandoms are for the ladyslash and/or because they make me laugh.

Hello! I'm 24, Canadian and a history major (meaning that I am now unemployable, hooray!). I'm in Watchmen fandom, but I don't know how much longer that will last. I'm big into comics and horror of all kinds. I'm a huge lurker but I'm attempting to be more social at DW!

Hey, I would like to go to grad school for illustration, but I'm not sure whether that will work out or not. Are you looking at the Art Institute of Chicago? I also once worked at a shoe store, though irl rather than online. And I like crime novels and Zac Efron! :D

Other than that, I'm 23 and working on finishing my undergrad degree (eventually), which is caught between English and Fine Arts at the moment. And, well, I've been terminally preoccupied with that lately, so I've been kind of boring. :( I'm looking forward to summer.

Well, I read Watchmen a little while before the movie came out. :DDDD And now I am reading Deadpool and Buffy Season 8 which are both awesomesauce.

:D Unfortunately my major is so tiny that I actually get paranoid about my school outing me IRL. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT INDUSTRIAL DESIGN IS. Friends of my parents ask me at parties, because that is apparently the ~approved~ uncomfortable small talk topic with college students, and then they say "Oh... so you design factories? :D?"

Finishing things is hard. My Leverage stuff is always terrible gooey team gen drabbles that I delete and rewrite at will, and my HSM fic is Sharpay/Zeke/Ryan smut that keeps wanting to grow a plot in my mind without actually letting me finish the smut part. >:/ Not even good plot. I'm shunning it at the moment until this stops. And crossovers! I love almost all crossovers. I've been trying to bend my mind around a Jeeves&Wooster/Watchmen crossover in Bertie's point of view, with the Minutemen, but the strain has so far been too great, and all things considered that may be for the best.

y halpo that!

Not much to say about me. I'm 23, Australian, work full-time, live with my mum and sister, and am quadcatular. I go through fandoms pretty frequently but I love talking about any and all of them at any given time.

Isn't State of Play fantastic? om nom nom tightly-woven political thriller :9 I hope the film does it justice.

Hi! I'm 22, I'm a sub-editor for a boring trade magazine in London and I have a degree in dramaturgy. I like adventure and comedy and dancing. Uh, my biggest fandom is probably Shakespeare, but I also like Indiana Jones and the High School Musicals and Due South and Meg Cabot and Philip Pullman. And Watchmen and Buffy and American politics. I play Irish fiddle for fun, and also I read a lot of fiction.

It is! :D Especially since I've pretty much made my LJ into a fic-only zone. I'm actually attempting to have a personality over here, but we'll see how long that lasts.

Being as I have academic ADHD, I'm kinda split between immigration history (predominantly the Irish when they showed up in the 1800's and 1850's and promptly formed gangs and wrecked shit up and had shanty towns), WWI (;____; most tragic war ever), and the Space Race. Just thinking about having to narrow my interests down to write a thesis is giving me a headache. Also, I do not blame you for dropping British history.

Well, I'm almost always a lurker and you may never hear from me again, but here goes anyway: I'm 26, grew up in Pittsburgh, lived in Virginia for a while, went to college in Alabama, grad school in St. Louis, and I currently live and work in Ohio. (Here, have some kool-aid.) I lurk in and around a million fandoms, but right now I'm a little obsessed with the Vorkosigan books and I can feel myself slipping back into comics. I listen to all kinds of music, all the time, and I pretty much spend most of my free time memeing. So, that's me. Nice to meet you!

Sorry for taking a few days with this reply, but this week was the last week of regular classes for me and it's been a bit hectic.

That college sounds like a good fit then! It's also good that you can get guidance from your mom; that's my problem right now, is that I'm sort of floundering around without someone to help point me in the right direction. College stuff is confusing. :/

Wow, that is... really young to be defending his doctorate. I can't even imagine. Oh well, I kind of enjoy not feeling as rushed about it. I've taken a lot of good classes just because I wanted to, without worrying about credits I needed, and there's something to be said for getting the chance to explore.

Re: favorite fictional detectives--well, Agent Pendergast from the Preston and Child books is my big love. I've also read all the Sherlock Holmes stories and enjoyed them. During the phase where I went around reading all my dad's paperback thrillers, I read one Lincoln Rhyme novel, and it was probably the best-written of the bunch that I read. And I've been meaning to read some Nero Wolfe...one of these days, when I get the time. :/
